Welcome!

Sewing has been apart of my life since I was a child. My mother was a talented seamstress that kept a sewing project on her machine constantly! She sewed anything from our everyday/school clothes and church dresses to elaborate pageant dresses. She wasn’t afraid to tackle any project regardless of its difficulty!

When I was nine years old, I joined a local 4-H Club. This is where I began my own sewing journey. As I grew in my sewing skills, I was able to enter my sewing projects in both the county and state fairs and also compete in many 4-H sponsored sewing competitions. When I was sixteen, I won the state Sew with Cotton competition. The requirements included sewing a garment from 100 percent cotton, modeling the garment in a fashion show, and judging garments others had sewn. As the winner of the competition, I was given some wonderful and unique opportunities that I will never forget! These included an all expense paid trip to Memphis, Tennessee to attend the Southern Cotton Ginner’s Convention. During our week stay, we toured the city, ate delicious food, and participated in a fashion modeling class where we learned some of the tricks of the trade. The week culminated with modeling our garments in a fashion show for the cotton ginners’ wives. It was an experience that I will take with me forever.

As I got older and married, raised children and started a career, sewing went by the wayside due to a busy life. I am now a retired elementary school teacher with grown children and five precious grandchildren. Since retirement, I have been able to return to my love for sewing and enjoy sewing for my grands and occasionally myself. My goal is to challenge myself to sew more difficult projects in order to develop my sewing skills. Follow along, if you will, to see “what’s sewing on!”
